Health / Clinical Services

SJSD has a full time registered nurse and nurse’s assistant on staff each day to provide for students' medical attention as required. Other medical personnel available as needed are: pediatrician, optometrist, neurologist and psychiatrist. |
Counseling and Guidance Services
The Counseling Services department works with students whose behavior interferes with their learning.
Depending on the child’s need, a variety of interventions are available. Counseling techniques used incorporate play as a way to work through such issues as anger, love, hate, sadness in a non-threatening setting.
Other children may be more comfortable with games and costumes that allow them to explore feelings. In each situation, a team of professionals in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, counseling and social work determine the best method for that student. |

Media, Library, & Technology
 |
St. Joseph's School for the Deaf incorporates media and technological services into every aspect of the learning process for our students. Within the school, each classroom utilizes a multimedia computer which has web access. Our school houses a computer classroom for conventional instruction and a lab for independent work or group projects. Technology is introduced to our students at every age level; these skills further progress as the students advance through the upper grades. Technology is also integrated into the curriculum to foster the teaching/learning process which makes the incorporation effective and enjoyable. |
