Speech/language services at SJSD are designed to empower our students to become confident communicators, ready to engage in their educational journey and beyond. Key components of speech/language services include: language development, speech production, aural rehabilitation, social communication skills and family support. Our dedicated team works closely with educators, students, and families, ensuring a collaborative approach to their success.

Audiology

St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf’s audiology department fosters pathways to access sound and spoken language potential for the students according to their hearing loss.  The school audiologists provide; comprehensive hearing tests, hearing equipment support, counseling, collaboration with teachers & related services, and follow-up with the families - clinics - hearing equipment companies.

Occupational Therapy Services

At SJSD, the goal of Occupational Therapy is to support the overall health and independence of d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing students by developing function-based skills—such as fine motor abilities for ASL, sensory processing, and self-help tasks—through engaging activities and access to specialized equipment, including a sensory room

Physical Therapy Services

At SJSD, physical therapy prioritizes the student experience to foster a positive relationship with health and improved self-esteem through functional movement. Through school-based physical therapy services, students benefit from improved strength, stability, balance, coordination, endurance, speed, and agility.
